Facilities Supervisor

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings ‚€“ carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


Scope of Position: As the Facilities Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing chemical technology and pollution abatement operational activities for the Concord Optical Fiber plant to ensure full compliance with applicable environmental regulatory requirements. Your other key responsibilities include planning, prioritizing, and coordinating department activities, providing production support by managing day-to-day operations and maintenance functions to meet safety, performance, and cost objectives.

Day to Day Responsibilities:



  • Provide supervision to Chemical Technology team including prioritizing and coordination of activities to ensure environmental monitoring and reporting are done in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements

  • Ensure the safety of employees by providing a safe work environment and promoting safe work practices

  • Provide high-level technical and analytical expertise for troubleshooting and problem solving of all pollution abatement processes

  • Develop employees by identifying training needs / fundamentals and skill gaps and setting relevant goals that align with overall business objectives

  • Build and maintain close relationships with other departments to optimize plant operational performance

  • Ensure strong communication lines are developed and maintained within the team and across other functional groups

  • Assist Environmental team with external compliance audits, compliance metrics reporting, and preparation of environmental permit applications

  • Support the manufacturing organization and project teams with new technology deployment and technical expertise to resolve equipment and process issues

  • Manage the storage and delivery systems of high purity chemicals, including inventory and quality assurance

  • Apply fundamental engineering principles to resolve chronic equipment and process issues Implement engineering and operational best / optimum practices to increase capability and reliability, and to reduce R&M costs (TPM, TQM, CMMS, Lean)

Education and Experience:



  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Material preferred) from an accredited four-year college or university.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of manufacturing experience

  • Minimum of 3+ years of supervision experience, preferably in manufacturing

Required Skills:



  • Experience working with pollution abatement or chemical plant processes and equipment (will also consider strong facility engineering background)

  • Demonstrated skills in analytical thinking and problem solving

  • Experience managing mid-size projects, performing new equipment commissioning, and implementing process and reliability improvement strategies

Desired Skills:



  • Basic chemistry skills and familiarity with pollution abatement and water treatment systems.

  • Experience with root cause analysis, FMEA, TPM/TQM concepts, and other maintenance reliability tools

  • Lean Six Sigma Knowledge or Green Belt certification

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams across the organization, including contractors, vendors and other specialists.

  • Strong leader with flexibility who can embrace and inspire change in the workplace

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
