Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings ‚€“ carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


POSITION SUMMARY: Electrical Engineering Technician


This position is for a electrical engineering technician in the Forming and Coating Engineering group. The electrical engineering technician will provide troubleshooting guidance to operations technicians, as well as take ownership of chronic upper level equipment issues relating to forming and coating equipment. Attribute ownership and operations support will be initiated based on run metrics and established manufacturing targets.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & DUTIES:



  • Provide daily engineering presence on the manufacturing floor in order to quickly recognize underperforming equipment

  • Review production and quality metrics in order to accurately prescribe daily troubleshooting activities.¬ 

  • Attend daily production meetings and effectively communicate required troubleshooting to operations.

  • Evaluate data to separate chronic problems from issues with assignable causes

  • Prioritize daily required troubleshooting efforts based on business needs Assist plant engineering with equipment conversions and installations

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently or in teams to quickly determine why equipment is not meeting output or uptime targets

  • Complete repairs of forming/coating equipment based on a preventative maintenance schedule or due to unexpected equipment breakdown.

  • Reference machine spec and follow troubleshooting checklists.

  • Drive to continuously improve effectiveness of troubleshooting checklists through training or document changes.

  • Complete parts document changes to add, remove, or modify stores parts to increase equipment uptime.

  • Train operations technicians on equipment troubleshooting best practices.

  • Provide off-hours production support on a rotating schedule

  • NFPA70-E Certified and demonstrated ability to use all electrical troubleshooting tools.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:



  • Associates Electrical Engineering Technology degree (or equivalent) with 2+ years of manufacturing experience or equivalent previous career experience


  • Experience with Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, & Outlook

  • Exposure to industrial manufacturing equipment

  • Knowledge of statistical process control methodology

DESIRED SKILLS:



  • Ability interpret electrical drawings and ability to implement changes to systems from "red lines"

  • Experience identifying problems with induction furnaces and coating systems



  • Attention to detail when working with sensitive components and placing a high priority on the condition of parts and assemblies at all times.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
