FM Operations Supervisor

Scope of Position:

As the Operations Supervisor, you will serve as the key point of contact for shift operations on a 24X7 schedule as it relates to safety, quality and productivity. You will be a role model for safety - dedicated to walking the talk on safety. You will also lead and facilitate the team to world-class, day-to-day, safety performance.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision and facilitation to a team of technicians and other specialists responsible for the manufacture of preforms and/or optical fiber

  • Understands and applies established guidelines, procedures and policies

  • Provides immediate supervision to subordinates to execute operations

  • Provides daily feedback on individual and team performance

  • Prepares and provides reports to supervisory chain

  • Coordinates daily activities of team and support organizations

  • Conduct hourly/direct labor employee performance reviews and provide mentoring as needed.

  • Ensure team executes documented operating procedures and follows established document control protocols.

  • Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)

  • Implement and monitor training and certification plans.

  • Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures and set points for process control; ensures awareness and compliance to changes.


Travel Requirements: Your travel is anticipated to be less than 5%


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field OR relevant years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role.

  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience.

  • Prior experience managing dynamic teams in a diverse environment.

  • Willingness and ability to work 12 hour rotating shift schedule which will include nights and weekends.

  • Strive to maintain positive employee relations

  • Provide fair and consistent application of policies and procedures

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office)

  • Strong decision-making and prioritization

  • Strong Leadership and work ethic

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
