HR Consultant - Concord

Purpose of the Position:



  • Supports the plant HR manager to ensure that the Concord plant has the right talent to execute the plant's strategy and achieve desired business results.

  • Ensures that the plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as "One Corning" in support of Corning values.

  • Assists in achieving or beating budgetary objectives in support of top quartile performance objectives while maintaining appropriate level of HR service delivery.

  • Assists in successful implantation of global HR business processes (e.g. compensation and performance management) in the plant.

  • Ensures plant compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines.


Day to Day Responsibilities:


The successful candidate will partner with the Concord HR Team and Plant Leadership to align HR objectives and initiatives to the business strategy including:



  • Effectively manage the hiring process for all hourly and temporary employees.

  • Manage and oversees disciplinary and termination process for all hourly employees.

  • Take ownership for specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and or delivering HR programs (e.g. attendance tracking, training, employee communications).

  • Partner with the Medical department to manage all workers compensation cases, EAP case management, FMLA and Disability as required for procedural and legislative purposes.

  • Identify employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with Plant HR Manager to identify action for improvement (e.g. employee climate survey, positive employee relations initiatives, affinity group facilitation).

  • Manage and participate in HR projects spanning multiple locations with other HR Divisional counterparts.

  • Establish and maintain a presence on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.


Required Education and Experience:



  • At least 3+ years of HR experience (generalist/specialist).

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Labor Relations or equivalent.

  • Hands-on self-starter, capable of juggling multiple priorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, allowing for communication across entire organization.

  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.

  • Ability to foster change and promote and implement improvement.

  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet).

  • Successful track record of performance working in Union Free Manufacturing environment.


Desired Skills:



  • Master's degree in related area and/or HR certifications desired.

  • Applied Six Sigma, Lean or Kaizen experience.

  • Experience developing individual and organizational level training plans.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
