Facilities Engineer

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings ‚€“ carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


Summary:


Works with other team members to tackle difficult technical, engineering related problems. Supports or leads continuous improvement activities, new process introductions, improving overall system reliability, and cost reduction projects. Serves as a resource for technical information regarding expansions, retrofits and new installations.

Day to Day Responsibilities:



  • Provide process understanding and technical support for pollution abatement systems and facility services supporting optical fiber manufacturing

  • Lead and/or provide support for projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new processes.

  • Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects.

  • Recommend/implement improvements to processes and equipment.

  • Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions.

  • Research, develop and implement process improvements

  • Provide recommendations into design of future plant expansions

  • Support the successful start-up and turnover of expansions

  • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.

  • Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes.

  • Monitor adequacy of capacity of critical systems. Forecast changing demand patterns and initiate plans to meet future requirements.

  • Assess adequacy and quality of services provided to process equipment, and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Assess the availability of data on critical systems and make recommendations for improvements to data acquisition.

Required Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree required. Concentration in Electrical or Chemical Engineering preferred. Will consider Mechanical or Civil Engineer as well.

Required Years and Area of Experience:



  • 3-5 years of engineering experience.

  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a manufacturing environment as an engineer.

  • We are looking for someone that is able to describe their project management experience or significant portions of a project that they ran with and led. Strong project management capabilities are important.

  • Experience using OSISoft PI

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
